How to Measure Your Shower Opening for a New Screen

Why accurate measuring matters

Getting your measurements right the first time avoids ordering the wrong size glass and having to start over. Our online calculator lets you configure your exact design based on the numbers you enter — so the more accurate your measurements, the more accurate the quote we give you.

What you'll need

A metal tape measure (fabric tape measures stretch and lose accuracy), a pencil and paper, and ideally a second person to help hold the tape for taller openings.

Measuring width

Measure the width of the opening in three places: near the top, in the middle, and near the bottom. Hong Kong bathroom walls — especially in older buildings — are rarely perfectly straight, so these three numbers can differ by a centimetre or more. When you get your quote, use the smallest of the three width measurements. This ensures the screen will fit even at the narrowest point of the opening.

Measuring height

Measure the height at both the left and right side of the opening, from the base (shower tray or floor) to the ceiling or wall lip where the frame will sit. Floors are sometimes slightly uneven too, so use the larger of the two height measurements — it's easier to trim a frame down slightly when fitting than to discover the screen is too short.

Measuring different shower shapes

The exact points you measure depend on your shower's shape. A single flat wall just needs width and height. A standard square corner needs four measurements (A, B, C, D) since walls are rarely perfectly square. A rounded quadrant corner — like our D082 model — needs a fifth measurement (L) for the curve.
