Surface treatments — what they look like and why choose them
Surface treatments change the texture and privacy level of the glass itself, separate from the glass colour. Here's what each option on our calculator actually is:
Standard clear 光片
No treatment at all — plain transparent glass with maximum visibility and light transmission. The default choice, and the most economical.
Single-side acid-etch 單面藥水砂
A chemical etching process applied to one side of the glass, giving a soft, even, satin-matte texture. It diffuses light and blurs the view through the glass while still letting plenty of light in — a gentle, uniform look rather than a strong frosted effect.
Single-side / double-side full frosted 單面/雙面全磨砂
A mechanically sandblasted frosted finish covering the entire pane, giving a strong matte, opaque look for privacy. Single-side frosting is treated on one face only; double-side frosting treats both faces for an even deeper, more uniform matte effect — slightly more opaque than single-side.
Pattern / stripe / grid frosted 間砂·格仔砂
Decorative frosted patterns — stripes, grid lines, or similar motifs — rather than solid all-over frosting. Gives partial privacy with visual texture and design interest, letting more light through in the clear sections than a fully frosted pane.
Silk-print pattern 絲印圖案
A ceramic pattern printed onto the glass using a silk-screen printing process, then fired to bond permanently with the surface. Adds a decorative motif to the pane while leaving the surrounding glass clear.
Silk-print full white/black 絲印全白/黑油
The same ceramic silk-printing process, but applied as a solid opaque colour (white or black) across the entire pane rather than a pattern — giving complete privacy and a bold, solid-colour panel look.
Single-side / double-side nano coating 單面/雙面納米
A nano-scale coating that makes the glass surface hydrophobic (water-repellent), so water beads up and slides off instead of leaving watermarks or soap scum behind — the glass stays cleaner for longer and is easier to wipe down. It doesn't change how the glass looks, only how easy it is to maintain. Double-side coating gives this easy-clean benefit on both faces of the pane.
Glass tints and grades — the four glass types
Separate from surface treatment, our calculator also lets you choose the base glass itself:
Standard clear glass 標準光片
Ordinary float glass, the standard base glass used across our range. Like most standard glass, it has a faint green tinge when viewed edge-on — barely noticeable in a shower screen, and the most economical option.
Ultra-clear crystal 超白水晶片
Low-iron glass, manufactured with reduced iron content so it lacks the green tinge of standard glass — the result looks noticeably more colourless and transparent, especially on thicker panels. A premium upgrade for a cleaner, more true-to-colour look.
Tinted grey / blue / tea 灰·藍·茶片
Glass tinted during manufacturing in grey, blue, or tea (bronze) tones. Adds colour and softens the light passing through, giving a degree of privacy while still allowing an outline view — a popular way to match a bathroom's colour scheme or add a warmer or cooler visual tone.
Coated pattern 鍍膜圖案
A decorative coating process applied with a pattern, distinct from silk-printing — typically giving a subtle metallic or reflective quality to the design. A premium decorative option for a more distinctive look.
